About-Nancy

Nancy Gilchrist MW is an enthusiastic and popular independent wine educator based in Oxford, England but she also has close links with South Africa where she teaches and runs wine tours on a seasonal basis.

She became a Master of Wine, the highest and most rigorous wine qualification in the world, in 1995. There are currently less than 400 people globally who hold this title.

Nancy took over the highly-respected Christie’s Wine Education program when Steven Spurrier and Michael Broadbent MW retired and then launched Académie du Vin @ 67 Pall Mall. She lectures widely, including at Leith’s School of Food & Wine, has been nominated a UK Champagne Ambassador – but is also a strong supporter of English Sparkling Wine – and is an acknowledged authority on the interaction of food and wine. Nancy is delighted now to be working also as Wine Consultant to The Oxford Wine Company.

In addition to wine, Nancy is an educator for both olive oil and chocolate. She is UK Ambassador for I & P olive oil from Lazio, Italy and has been a regular Grand Jury judge for The International Chocolate Awards.
